Black & Decker WM825-XJ Workmate Black 19kg is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from WM825 Screwfix 'click and collect' service and the competitive price were good. The Workmate - once assembled - is a really solid product, but the Black and Decker instruction leaflet was completely useless!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Frustrating Once you get this put together it's an excellent piece of kit but putting it together is a real pain and that's why I've given it a mixed review. The instructions are totally useless. And I really mean totally useless. The one I bought came in a box that had obviously been opened earlier and I guess someone else had bought it before me and just decided to send it back. I eventually found a video on YouTube that a DIYer had made (not from Black and Decker itself) that helped me to make sense of the bits. Do your research and you'll find other people have had the same problem. It's a real shame that Black and Decker haven't put more thought into this - I bet a lot more people just decide to return their workbench and end up buying another make.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poorly built I had to return my first workmate as on assembly, it became obvious that it had been used before (I should have noticed by the state of the packaging box). It would have been acceptable, but then I found one of the wooden jaws was warped. I phoned customer services to request a replacement workmate. This was no problem and I received it the same day. The only problem with the new one was with one of the handle retaining pins which was oversized and had to be filed down. I'm sure the finished product will perform ok but I have to say it does feel a bit rickety. I agree with a previous reviewer that the belt joining the two winding handles is a complete waste of time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth that little bit extra Bought this to replace my 30 year old workmate. Great product and worth paying that little bit extra for

Rated 5 out of 5 by from work bench This is a very handy workbench for doors and such love that it folds in half as a clamp and that it has dual height settings .. A little bulky but works great and looks great

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Useful and Versatile Workbench I have an older model with which I've been very pleased - and still use regularly after many years service. Bought this one for my son to help with DIY at his house (most recently boarding the loft). This newer model doesn't have great assembly instructions but isn't difficult to put together. A couple of parts which were formerly metal are now plastic, but these should be fine for home/DIY use (they may prove less durable for professional use). I particularly like the ability to clamp vertically by swinging one jaw up (very easily), which is why I went for the 'plus' version. Moving only one side of the jaw isn't as smooth as I'd like - initially I thought it wasn't working, but it does 'click' forward okay.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what they used to be I had a much older one of these and it was built like a tank. This one isn't even close. What happened in the past 10 years B&D? There is an odd flimsy belt between the two tightening handles. I assume so you can do one handed clamping. But it's pointless. Doesn't work properly, and gets in the way of being able to easily tighten them independently. I'm close to just cutting it he belt out and binning it. The 3-postion back board is mounted onto the frame on plastic lugs. I have already partially crushed one of these with a sash clamp. The old version of this workbench had nice strong steel lugs. I haven't tried the tilt function yet, so can't comment on how well it works. But all in all it seems to be over designed in some areas and under engineered in others.
