Bristan Pistacchio Mono Mixer Kitchen Tap Chrome is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good tap After reading the reviews I decided to go for this tap anyway. Easy to fit and they seem to have sorted the dripping problem out as my tap is fine. Looks good and works well

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fitting a new aerator Bristan sent me a different aerator to cure the dripping problem others have noted here - but, no fitting instructions. I cannot see how to remove the existing aerator. I have tried unscrewing the chrome end piece with a wrench, but it won't budge. Could somone who has already done this, explain how they removed the standard aerator and fitted the replacement? P.S. I have since discovered that there's an aerator removal tool that you insert into the end of the tap. Has anyone used this tool or found a way to remove the aerator without the special tool?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pistachio tap "problem". Having ,now, read the reviews of other purchasers of this tap I can only agree with their findings. Contrary to what Briston say, when you contact customer services, every tap DOES drip for a considerable time after closing the tap. In my experience it is from 10 to 15 seconds of "dripping". The very nice person that I spoke to from customer services, after several long periods of being on hold, informed me that there was no record of a problem with this tap. Also that there was no replacement part manufactured for the tap. However after being told that i had read the reviews on Screwfix and that an alternative type of aerator had been supplied they found a part. This was for another model of tap and might do the job, and as a gesture of good faith was posted to me. It arrived and did not fit properly, but the insert could be removed and placed in the end section of my tap and fitted perfectly! The tap has not dripped since. It is a very good tap that Briston need to tweek a little bit and put in the aerator that they supply so that it becomes a 5 star tap.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tap with problems! Having read previous reviews, I still decided to go ahead and purchase this Bristan tap, knowing that there was a 'fix' for the known dripping problem. BIG MISTAKE! I decided to contact Bristan where they informed me that they were "unable to offer assistance" what a poor and unacceptable response. Furthermore, although this tap is described as "easy-fit", that is true. However, the design does, in my opinion compromise the integrity of mounting of the tap to the sink/work surface, as there is no collar to secure the tap body to the sink/work surface but only one of the water connectors. This, by design, pulls the tap over to one side and therefore compromises the installation where it is possible to turn the tap body by hand! There are plenty of alternative taps available from other manufacturers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good tap with new aerator I have just completed a flat refurb. Bought this tap partly on looks and reviews. I knew about the aerator issue from earlier reviews - thought it might have been solved as standard by now - it wasn't. Tap takes about 10 second to switch off. It is annoying when you work it (even though it doesn't sound that annoying when you read about it). I called Bristow customer services who professed to never have heard about this problem. The person I spoke to was a bit funny on the phone: bit defensive and said it was supposed to drip like this BUT they did agree to send me a new part - you have to take the aerator out and swap it. Person on the phone said she couldn't guarantee that it would fit - it did. Part arrived very quickly and no charge - so thank you Bristow. Now all sorted and great tap. Can't comment on reliability as only installed recently but website required a rating so went with other ratings. However other big plumber merchant (from whom I was ordering other stuff) did not know about the problem at all. They said they had never heard of this issue. In the end I bought the tap from Screwfix separately as they had the best price and had it immediately in stock. Come on Bristow - tell your suppliers and sort this out!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works-with different aerator Just like the other reviewer stated: initially after installation by a reputable plumber water kept dripping for another 10 seconds, and you had to either waste water or time by holding your kettle underneath the tap until it finished dripping. The installer said that was "normal". Went same route as in the previous review described and contacted Bristan directly. Brilliant A* service! Very quick response. Not a manufacturing fault as such, but Bristan sent different kind of aerator and after a bit of a fiddle I swapped it with the old one in the end piece of the tap and no more dripping. Now I can seriously say that I like the tap. It looks fantastic and works really well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not without fault Purchased two Pistachio taps for my kitchen and utility room. Initially disappointed to find they shared the same fault described in a review for another Bristan model - continuing to dribble after being switched off. I found they ran, as if not fully turned off, for approx. 10 secs. and delivered approx. 10 ml. water. Doesn't sound much but it can be very annoying - either wait 10secs. with kettle (say) held under tap or withdraw it and have water dribbled down the outside. I telephoned Bristan, who appeared not to be aware of the problem - but this I doubted. However they said they would send me different aerators which should cure the issue. True to their word these were posted first class and worked perfectly. The new inserts are more complex and have many more smaller holes than the originals, without being a hydro engineer one intuitively knows that they will resist siphonic action and hold back a small column of water. Other than this there are no other problems and the taps look great. Thanks to Bristan for their efficient service. I just hope they recognize the fault and fit the improved aerator as standard.
