BRK 690MBX Mains Heat Alarm with 9V Battery Backup is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from smoke alarm Bought as a replacement,as old one still worked ,bur discoloured as over twenty years old

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Colour Mismatch I recently purchased the BRK 660MBX and BRK 690MBX detectors together with the surface mounting pattress. Firstly the pattress is white and the detectors are a greyish / beige colour and do not match. In fact they look rather ugly. Whilst the pattress makes for ease of wiring it does make the unit look rather large. After investigation I purchased the BRK 760MBX and BRK 790MBX detectors. These have an integral mounting plate for easy connection and look much better than the 660 and 690 options. The units are about the same price so using them is a no brainer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works! Does what it should, really easy to install using Wago connectors. Easy to link to matching smoke alarm in hallway.I found it easy enough without the optional base plate, which adds about another inch and a half of ugliness. why can't any manufacturer make this type of alarm attractive?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good basic safety kit Good item matches and links to equivalent smoke alarm, Size is good not being too large. Easily Fitted and assuming screwfix continue to stock it then will be easy to replace if required due to baseplate. Decent price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smoke alarms Easy use loud good instructions not to big so don't look out of place

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's not white It easily links to existing smoke alarms but detector it's a dirty browny grey colour . Mounting base is white but detecters look like they smoke 60 a day Looks awful on my white ceiling but does the job .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Heat Alarm All in all, very good heat alarm. Includes 9V battery which is a plus. Instructions are very vague in terms of the "gasket". The connector (the plug on the end of the tails to connect to the alarm) is very large (twice the size needed) so you need a large void under the smoke alarm to fit the terminal block for the short tails and the connector. If you get a dry lining box to install in ceiling make sure you get the biggest one (47mm). This is the easiest way to make it as discreet as possible.
