Dorgard LL800 Fire Door Retainer Black is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy fit, work well, pricey Bought after a fire safety inspection caught our staff wedging fire doors open. Easy to fit but make sure the unit will clear the door jamb/stop - don't rely wholly upon the template, I had to reposition one. Works well, holding the door open normally but releasing after the fire alarm has sounded for about 15 secs - and the users actually find it more reliable than the wedges they were using! It can be triggered by other sustained loud noises - e.g. vacuuming nearby - but as the instructions point out, the user of the tool might not hear the fire alarm over that noise anyway, so probably better that the door closes! Can't comment upon battery life and reliability as just installed. The only downside is that it seems expensive for something that looks like a relatively simple piece of kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and effective Surprisingly clear instruction , little or no mess whilst installing, customer delighted that no wiring used or mess involved in running cables or containment, no re-decoration involved. Happy customer means quick payment equals happy installer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cheap and effective Much cheaper than hard-wiring a device into the fire alarm circuits. Easy to fit and it works a treat. The only drawback is having to remove the device to re-set the timers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from dorgard these units are ok ,i have used alot of them , but i find some units , always the same ones run the batteries down quick ,but the rest last for ages so dont no if maybe they are faulty from day one, but easy to use and fit so i will still buy these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best of its kind The Dorgard fire door retainer is a great alternative to the more robust magnetic hold back devices, which require hard-wiring to the alarming system. Installation is quick and easy, so no costly installation fees from electricians or alarm engineers, however it does require batteries, so occasional maintenance would be required much the same as a domestic smoke alarm. As the device operates from the sound of an alarm, they are prone to spurious releasing with certain other sounds such as vacuum cleaners. However this only proves that the device is doing what is expected of it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Door guard problems I have bought a few of these units and I am dissapointed in the short life span of the batteries. I have tried all kinds of batteries but whether it's the office environment or not they just don't seem to last. The sensitivity isn't the best either, even adjusted to the max, they still go of when they shouldn't.
