Drayton Digistat + Room Thermostat is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid at all cost Moved into a new property with an old worn stat (covered in paint / dust the works). I needed a two wire no volt to the contact stat and this was the answer. It was very straight forward to install but then came the problems. The stat would be set to say 21 and climb to 21.5. The boiler light would then come on and it would run for 6 minutes before turning off. On and off on and of every 6 minutes. Is it a faulty boiler I thought so I called them and they said no as the stat turns is the unit demanding the heat.. so why was it turning on so much and when it was above the required temp?? So I did so research online and it turns out rather then just reading the room temp and turning the boiler on and off it wants to be clever. It tries to learn a pattern by doing these test cycles in stages. So for example. Day 1.. If you set it to 22 it will run these 6 minute short bursts to see how long it takes to heat up. It will then use this information in the future.. oh last time it was 22 it took x amount of minutes so I need to run the boiler this long. The problem is its a long and complicated process, plus if you remove the batteries it resets the process / same if you change temp. This is why the temp is always off by about 2 degrees... You can set it to 22 but you'll get more like 24.. so you change it down to 20 thinking you will get 22 but the room temp doesn't fall quick enough so your left with cold rads for hours at a time...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Feature Rich Good build quality, simple installation, unfortunately the temperature is around 2° on the high side so consequently setting a preferred heat level is a tad hit and miss, also they could have spent an extra few pence on illuminating the display

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to fit Thermostat Has a nice LED screen on it to see what the current temperature is. Ive had it up for just over a year and works great and was fairly simple to fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Item Just installed dead easy!! Installed a week ago, beats the old bi-metal unit maintains a good steady temperature. Good purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not keen on this product Purchased this to replace our old Digistat 1. I can just about live with the tiny temperature screen and massive setting dial but the temperature is over 2 degrees out. Wish I had read the other reviews before buying this. When the wife realises just how inaccurate the temperature display is I can see me back in the shop buying an alternative product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Reach for the duck tape Have had two of these since the central heating upgrade in 2011. The first failed because the temperature selection dial was utterly random... dial to one degree intervals NOT.... and even if the desired number was displayed it seemed to default to 16C or 23C after a while. Replaced under guarantee by plumber/electrician but this is only sustained by duck tape holding the battery cover in place to compensate for poorly aligned battery connections and insecure locking of battery holder. Poor design and function.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value Thermostat Bought this thermostat to replace a mains powered unit which has died! The old one was simply a switch which waited 10 sec after reaching temperature then switched off, this meant that the radiators were still hot and so the temperature in the house continued to rise, then when it cooled down there was another wait before the unit switched the boiler back on. This meant that the house was continually either too hot or too cold. This new Drayton unit is much more intelligent and controls the boiler so as to keep the house very close to the set temperature, which is much more efficient and and comfortable. The unit we were supplied also overstates the 'actual' temperature by 1 - 2 degree (checked with a calibrated thermometer) but as the other reviewer stated it's not a problem as I just set the required temperature a little higher. I dont' know about the battery life yet but so far I would highly recommend this product

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pretty rubbish First one didn't work, stuck on 22 degrees so house way too hot. Second still didn't programme in correctly despite numerous attempts but seems to work a bit despite various error leds. Battery holder very flimsy for this much money and very easy to miss the connections. Whole timing system of central heating systems seems stuck way back in the past and this is another outdated bit of tech.
