Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT 'Easy-Drive'! 'Bought these for fixing 6mm plywood sheets to (approx) 1-2mm steel cladding sheets, as i wanted a 'flush' finish in order to fit a very large canvass sign over the ply, which, according to the 'spec'. they should be perfect for? Wrong! Looking at the design of the screw, it would appear that the 'wings' located just inboard of the self-drill tip, are designed to cut a clearance hole in the timber, then snap-off as they hit the steel sheet, thereby allowing the screw to self-tap a thread into the steel sheet? However, in practice I found that in 99% of cases, the wings (which are around the same width as the screw thread) don't snap-off & therefore open-up the hole in the steel sheet, thereby causing the screw to then simply 'fall' into the resulting over-sized hole! In the majority of cases, I had to then fiddle-about pulling the screw back out of the hole (as it hadn't self-threaded, so couldn't simply be backed-out with the driver) then trying again on a fresh area nearby, whereupon, as in most cases at least one of the 2 wings had sheared-off in drilling the previous hole, the screw then worked as it should. However, in some cases the operation had to be repeated a 3rd time in order for the screw to actually 'bite'! Result - The job (up a very tall ladder!) took 2-3 times longer than it should have, the work-piece is now 'peppered' with masses of 'failed' fixing holes & my wrist was knackered by the end! Maybe they aren't designed for fixing 'thin' ply, but I certainly won't be using these ever again! Returned to branch for a full refund, which, of course Screwfix actioned without question.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Art Studio I used these to fix 9mm ply to the 3mm thick 40mm steel angle frame on the inside of my painting hut. Set your drill drive to a slow speed, apply gradual pressure and once these screws bite they pull themselves through and the fixing is solid. A brilliant product, just the job.
