Rated 5 out of 5 by from New soil stack.... After dismantling the old Asbestos early 60's beanstalk Soil Stack (which weighed a ton!) I replaced it with 2x1m Flow Plast soil stack and placed this little cherry on the top of the construction, and hey presto a good ending in terms of performance and look in comparison to the old asbestos fossil beanstalk which I have just disposed of correctly with our council hazardous waste tip. A neat finish in the end, and loads of brownie (forgive the pun) points for me.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from External Durgo Valve accepted Excellent product build and appears to be good operation of the sliding seal. Maybe a little pricey, but it allowed a vent stack termination at gutter level rather than having to extend the stack beyond the roof light window above. Accepted by Building control officer. Good solution to a difficult problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unsolved smell There is still a smell emanating from the drains despite the valve seemingly working properly. I have since extended the stack pipe above gutter level and it seems to have reduced but not eliminated the smell.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from External AAV I purchased this air admittance valve for a job I was on after I rang the floplast technical department to make sure that it was designed to be used outside and wouldn't require a thermal cover. Apparently it is tested for use down to minus 20 degrees C. Unfortunately I didn't use this AAV as the engineer on the job said we couldn't use any AAV on the sump set up that they had. But for future use I know what to buy for external venting!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great alternative vent We live in Sussex, where the traditional construction is tile-hung first-floor up. This makes fixing any vertical pipework tricky and often unreliable. This valve eliminates the need for the pipe run up to the roof and beyond, so solves that problem entirely. Arguably, it looks better too. The valve seems pricy, but on the balance it typically eliminates two bends, three sections of pipe, a cowl and the associated bracketry, and the labour to fit all of that. The manufacturer recommends annual maintenance (cleaning, in effect) - an optimistic expectation, I'll bet. I'll be interested to see how it performs over time. Without that time, I have given meaningless ratings for performance and reliability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product Bit pricey but does what its is supposed to do. Can't comment on reliability as I've not had it long. Overall a good product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solved a long term problem I have twice had the upper section of the cast iron waste pipe on my house displaced by snow, the second time was this winter and it came crashing down into the driveway which was very concerning as it could have hit people or cars. The toilet waste inlet into the pipe was about 1.5 metres below the point where the pipe now terminated so after the second time I fitted a short section of plastic pipe capped with a vent as a temporary fix to keep dirt out just to see the winter through The top of the pipe was now very close to a window and when the weather got warmer recently foul smells started to come from the vent into the house. I was planning to replace the section again so it vented above root height in the knowledge that snow would push it off again but I could see no other option. My house has a two steeply pitched roof sections at the rear at 90 degree to each other with a valley and the snow is guided into the valley and it then slides down resting against the pipe which is close to the valley. I had been thinking about snow guards but they are expensive when fitting to the roof and I cannot use guards fitted to guttering because of the weight of snow. So, I started looking at other options to cap the pipe somehow below roof level and found this almost straight away. I fitted it in 30 minutes including taking the plastic pipe section down, trimming it , fitting the valve and fitting it back again to the wall. Now there are no odours and I can open the windows again. Very pleased with this simple solution to a problem that had been vexing me for months!
