Forge Steel Carpenters Pencils & Sharpener Pack of 12 is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 50.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect pencil To start with, I thought these were a little pricey for pencils but hadn't appreciated the size of them - very long so much better value for money. Sharpener is a useful addition too - the pencils are flat so a normal round-holed sharpener wouldn't work. This sharpener has a rotating mechanism that holds the pencil central.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost as good as the free one Picked a set of these up as I could never find a pencil when I needed one (even though Screwfix and Ikea and supplied me with loads). The lead is broad so doesn't snap at the critical point. The shape also stops them rolling of the bench/board. The sharpener is OK but usually end up using a Stanley knife.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not the best but not the worst The pro's The pencils are very long and if cut in half with a hack saw you can get two decent sized pencils out of one. so in effect you get twice the amount for your money. they come with a decent sharpener that can do these thinner pencils and the standard sized wider carpenters pencils. the pencils mark very well and on just about anything from wood to metal. The con's the sharpener is good but if used two fast just snaps the lead off some of the pencils in the pack seemed to have lead that was broken all the way down and wouldn't sharpen at all but not the end of the world since you can effectively get 24 pencils from this pack. sometimes its just easier to do it with a Stanley blade not sure if this is a con but does defeat the object of the sharpener. Overall a very good buy that will last for a good long time

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it should Big red pencils that mark wood. Colour and size means you are less likely to loose one. Sharpener is a bit useless but at this price it's a free toy. Use a Stanley knife and it's all good. They'll do for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great big pencils great price These pencils are big and red. Given how many there are (12) and how long they are (30cm - before you attack them with the pencil sharpener), they should last me quite a few years. The aforementioned sharpener does a pretty good job of creating a point but I found that it was more rounded than I wanted, so I resorted to a Stanely knife to create a broader, flatter tip to the lead. The lead itself seems robust and makes marking up wood very easy. The red colour of the pencils means they are easy to see amidst the chaos of my workbench. In my opinion, they are very good value for money and they will be well used over the coming months (and possibly years as there are so many of them).
