Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap and choppy This is an axe. It is not the best axe, but it is a good axe. I use my axe to split logs into sticks. It's not sharp, and the steel is brittle, but it does the job. As one reviewer said, the benefit of the axe's luxurient hickory handle is negated somewhat by the varnish. I have blisters and intend to sand the varnish off. Overall this is a superb tool for splitting wood, but it doesn't hold an edge well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very handy and helpful. Very good axe. I got stuck trying to dig out the bushes in the garden. Looked easier than it was. Realised that I need an axe, looked online at screfix and picked one up in store. Two beers and two bushes later job done. Very good axe, handy, sharp, not too heavy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This axe I would not recommend the axe to anybody who needs a lot of work done. But a lot of work is needing done on the axe to get it to a usable condition. The handle is coated with varnish which will give you blisters if you are doing a lot of chopping or splitting. This needs to be removed. The axe head profile in mediocre, a bit on the splitter side angle than the chopper side. The steel used in the head is poor, I sharpened it to shaving sharp, could shave the hairs of my arm. I went out into it forest to work and within in ten minutes of work, it was as dull as a butter knife. Not a good axe.
