Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality Looked like a good value vice for occasional DIY use but found the jaws were skew to one another. Saw this reported by another reviewer but assumed it was isolated case and took it back only to find replacement had exactly same fault. Seems there is very poor manufacturing or quality control even at this price. My advice - pay more for a quality make. Screwfix staff helpful and gave refund without hesitation.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Acceptable quality vice Pros: This vice, at under 20 pounds, is well worth the value for a hobbiest or beginner woodworker. There are two support rods that provide right and left support adequately. Cons: There are many faults. Overall, the vice is not ideal for me, but will serve its purpose for now. The support rods work loose under strain, and constantly require retightening. The jaws, after use for around three months, do not meet up level or square, and to securely secure the work piece, it has to be shimmed with a wedge or piece of cardboard. The front jaw is constantly shaking and has never been stable. I soon hope to buy a metalworking vice and adapt it to woodworking, as replacing the current vice would be too much hassle, and too expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Woodworking Vice Had to return the vice, rods where offset. Replacement provided with no issues at all. Very handy vice, great value for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Idle Vice...Idle Vice... ... Every morning it greets me (still in its box awaiting installation). But it certainly looks and feels like a solid piece of kit. Surprised there were no fittings or fitting instructions in the box, but I'm guessing everyones fitting details are different and there are certainly lots of (laborious) videos on You Tube showing how to install. In my case I'm going to countersink into my worktop installing from underneath, which is probably the only way what with the angled underside of the vice itself....And dont forget to add replacable wood plates to the inside vice saws, which will obviously reduce its opening dimensions.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from COULD BE GOOD The 90 degree mounting faces are not square, the guide rods are loose and the clamp faces do not close evenly. Even when the guide rods are nipped up, the jaws don't close evenly because the guide rod threads have not been drilled square. I looked at 5 and picked the best of a bad bunch. If a bit of care had been taken in drilling and positioning the guide rods squarely, this vice would be getting full marks. Beware!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Superb value I bought this as I'm setting up a small workshop in my garage for a spot of D.I.Y. I've got a few projects in the pipeline. It is really good value and is spot on for what I need. I had it fitted to my bench complete with wooden jaws in under 30 mins, used it a few times and does what it says on the tin. At this price it's a no brainer, especially as I'm only doing a bit of diy really.
