Gate Castor 102mm is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Quality Castor I bought one of these to support the weight of a large wooden gate that had a tendency to drop over time. This castor is well made and the large diameter wheel means that it runs well, even over my gravelled driveway. If you want the castor to take the weight of the gate (rather than just act as a guide) you will need to compress the spring before fitting. The amount of compression will depend on the weight of the gate and I clamped it in place first to get the right amount of compression, then used a cable tie (see photo) to lock it before marking and drilling the holes. Once fitted cut the tie. The holes in the fixing bracket are a snug fit on an M10 bolt, which will prevent it from sliding upwards over time. The swivel bearing is open at the sides, so I would recommend that you grease it up with a thick grease to prevent corrosion. I am pleased to say that it has done the job nicely, so no more sagging gates!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good value, did the job fitted it to old heavy yard gate, took minutes to fit with coach bolts and it stopped the gate from dragging on an uneven surface.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from castor wheel Bought this for one of my gates, which I had hung on a post, to take the weight and stop any extra purchase on the post or hinges. And it does just that and works well with great ease, can say a good buy and cheaper than the first one I bought from a different supplier before I realised screwfix sold or had them. Well done screwfix.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed and robust Good design, smooth running, works well on uneven ground, easy to fit and takes a reasonable load off of the hinges. Fittings would be a very handy addition to the package.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish! Bought this castor as my heavy 5 bar gate kept dropping. Attached it but the spring broke away from the fixing the first time it was used, and the solid wheel does not like small stones so made it more difficult to open. Took back for refund.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice castor Nice gate castor. The spring loading means that even on rough or unlecel ground the castor tracks along the floor correctly offering support to the hinges. The lack of fittings is a little rubbish but the fact they are M10 and not larger means they're not too hard to source, if you're anything like me you will probable already have a few in a pot somewhere in your van or workshop from a previous job.
