Gate Spring Black 200mm is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 50.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish Unfortunately this item is rubbish. The two tension pins have been machined down much smaller than the holes that they locate into; under tension they fly out! I had to make two pins of the right diameter out of a couple of small bolts.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Gate Spring sprang Bought this to close a waist high metal gate. Fitted as per instructions. Upon tensioning the spring, the tension in the spring built up, not enough to make any closing motion on the gate, but enough for the ends of the spring to deform almost to the point of extricating themselves from the locating holes they were fitted into. At this point I stopped before the spring failed catastrophically. Not fit for purpose IMHO

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap and Nasty I purchased two of these and both failed. First one the spring tail that entered the stop was too short so spring flew out when tensioning the second failed as the spring had not been tempered correctly so bent out of shape when i first opened gate. I would not recommend these at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy As several reviewers say, the pins come out. They are made of soft metal and are not up to the job. Mine lasted about 5 openings then both flew out. I will make some steel ones to see if that helps. If not, it will go back.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Popping out Popping out The tension Plugs keep popping out all the time so you can't Tighten up the spring

Rated 1 out of 5 by from INEFFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS I bought this product, even though some of the reviews mentioned problems with the pins. Firstly, the instructions are poor and despite being a competent DIYer I had to go onto YouTube, to check out a video of someone installing a similar gate spring, in order to see how they were tensioning it. Secondly, the pins just don't stick in the holes and as others have pointed out, they come flying out like little bullets. There is nothing to hold them in, other than the tension on the spring and they can and do work loose. This happened while I was fitting the spring and 2 days later, both springs have come out, during the natural opening and closing of the gate. I have a 2 year old, who is at just the right height to get severely injured, if one of these pins hit her in the eye/face. For that reason, I just cannot recommend this product to anyone. In my opinion, the receiving hole should be threaded and the pins should screw in, to prevent mishaps. Alternatively, they should be made to splay like a rivet. Perhaps there are variations on the product specification, which would explain why some people don't have an issue, but on the product I purchased, the pins are loose in the receiving holes. Not fit for purpose.
