Rated 1 out of 5 by from INEFFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS I bought this product, even though some of the reviews mentioned problems with the pins. Firstly, the instructions are poor and despite being a competent DIYer I had to go onto YouTube, to check out a video of someone installing a similar gate spring, in order to see how they were tensioning it. Secondly, the pins just don't stick in the holes and as others have pointed out, they come flying out like little bullets. There is nothing to hold them in, other than the tension on the spring and they can and do work loose. This happened while I was fitting the spring and 2 days later, both springs have come out, during the natural opening and closing of the gate. I have a 2 year old, who is at just the right height to get severely injured, if one of these pins hit her in the eye/face. For that reason, I just cannot recommend this product to anyone. In my opinion, the receiving hole should be threaded and the pins should screw in, to prevent mishaps. Alternatively, they should be made to splay like a rivet. Perhaps there are variations on the product specification, which would explain why some people don't have an issue, but on the product I purchased, the pins are loose in the receiving holes. Not fit for purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good gate spring not sure what the bad reviews were about but this gate spring was fitted and set up in 5 minutes with no problems or damaged eyes from flying parts this is a good product for the price

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lordy this will have your eye Trie 3 times to tension it and each time almost lost an eye or other vital part of my body! Cant mention enough to shut the gate without the little metal pegs flying out at the speed of a bullet. Don't buy and save yourself a trip to casualty.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dangerous As other reviewers said, the pins are loose and it's very easy to send these shooting towards your face.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money I bought this after reading a few positive reviews .. Wish I had read them all. On the spring I purchased there is no way of identifying top from bottom. The pins you insert to get tension are loose and fall out. These pins are supposed to stay in once tension has been achieved. Save your time and frustration, buy a better product...you get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gate Spring 200mm Had no problems fitting this - will probably need re-tensioned after some use. Some other reviewers complain about loose pins - I would say that they need to be a little loose to help with fitting. Fitted two months ago, no problems yet.
