Gate Spring Zinc-Plated 215mm is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from My 4th one in 2 years I use one of these on a gate that needs to remain closed, unfortunately the small nipples that keep the tension of the spring keep falling out and I am fairly confident I have installed it correctly. I would suggest gluing in the nipples for anyone who is considering this product

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design It's interesting reading the other reviews because I don't recognize the product as the cheap and nasty piece of kit I bought 3 of, and returned 2 of them unopened. It was fiddly to fit, the small pins fell out and when I got it fitted and tensioned it wasn't man enough to close the (admittedly quite heavy) garden gate.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gate Spring Not too bad, however the small pins which are inserted in the relevant holes to create the tension are not the best. A little awkward to fit and can come loose. I ended up drilling the hole out and inserting a roll pin.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Flawed product As many others have said there's a problem with the pins being too small and loose. I thought I'd give it a go anyway and found it easy to fit and tension, and it worked perfectly for an hour or so. But now I find that the pins have fallen out and one has pinged off somewhere and is lost! The solution is to use pins that are a push fit in the holes so they don't fall out, for some reason the manufacturers don't seem to have taken any notice of all the comments though. I'm going to make my own, luckily I have a small lathe and can easily turn up a couple the correct size, if you don't have that facility I guess all you can do is try to find a bit of steel rod the right diameter and cut a couple of bits off, a nail would do, it's such a simple thing to rectify I don't understand why they haven't done it by now?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well engineered gate spring A very strong and sturdy gate spring with a fair price tag. Easy to install and very effective.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy To Fit Good value for money and easy to fit. Pin a little loose but once you have the correct spring tension all is good

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mind your fingers... I don't know where the items recent reviewers bought are coming from - mine was very poor. Needed a replacement as the first one supplied did not have the spring properly hooked and kept slipping out of the end block. Also as noted by other critical reviewers the pins (and tool) slip out of the block when winding on the tension - I have a bruised finger to show for it. Generally poor quality and no sign of that improving in the near future. It works - but only just. I'd look elsewhere and pay a bit more for a better product another time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gate Spring winner Wanted an easy to fit spring to close my garden gate and this works fine. As others have said the pins are a poor fit - far too loose - but if you are careful it can be done and the tension of the Spring keeps the pins in place. Working well so far.
