Hitachi KC18DGL/JA 18V 1.5Ah Li-Ion Cordless Combi Drill & Impact Driver Twin Pack is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 52.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from No frills, excellent value Bought quickly to replace stolen kit, and having been a long time user of Hitachi tools this was my first choice. The battery capacity is insufficient for professional use but the bare tools themselves are perfectly acceptable. Another joiner on my current job has been using the same set for a year with no issues. The 40 minute charger is adequate and seems well made but lacks the cooling system of older Hitachi chargers. The impact driver is light and comfortable to use with plenty of torque, and the drill is also nice. The chuck feels a little cheap but at the price it's hardly an issue. It is certainly secure enough in use and that is what really matters. I do like the motor brake on the drill, which is oddly satisfying in use. I was disappointed to find that the belt clips were not included with the package, despite both tools having the fittings for them. To the average user that's a minor issue but to professionals it can become irritating. Fortunately they are available as spare parts. The case is sturdy and is moulded to stack with other Hitachi cases. It has plenty of room and compartments inside for the various bits and pieces we often carry around and is a plus point. Nothing fancy on offer here, just reliable well made kit that will pay for itself in no time. At the price, it's impossible to argue with what you get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent - Chuck is fine I have this twinpack for a fair while now and it has never let me down. Built loads of stuff for myself and my lads in their houses. To those complaining of a loose chuck....Guy's you're doing it wrong. I too started out with an issue because I was holding the chuck-sleeve and spinning the drill up until it overcame my ability to grip the chuck sleeve and this always resulted in a loosening bit. Don't do it this way. Snug it up by spinning the motor up and then take off the power and turn the chuck sleeve firmly by hand. You will feel 1 or more notchy-clicks and the bit will then be totally secure. Ever since I began doing this I have not had a single instance of a loosening bit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent affordable set So after a year of having bought this set after my previous expensive Hitachi set was stolen, I can say I'm pretty happy with it. The impact works really well!!! Almost as good as my last one. the light is ok, should be closer to the chuck but I can live with that. Can handle 4 -6 inch bolts and screws into wood and masonry without much trouble at all. The drill is lacking, but for the budget, it's good enough. Hole cutting in tiles is long, it can't handle augers and morticing very well and the hammer on it can just about do a 6mm into brick. (On the job I usually use a sds for this so its not the end of the wold) Batteries are decent enough for medium usage throughout the day, as long as you got the other charging. Charger died on me and Hitachi replaced with no issues and within 48hrs! I abuse my tools & boxes and they've stood up really well I'm happy enough with the impact that I can wait for it to die and replace set then

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for DIY. Not so for Pro Great value for DIY use. Can be used professionally, but expect about 18 Months out of it. I've had this sent for 2.5 years, used daily. The Impact driver is still going strong. ( but I dont thrash it by letting the impact mechanism do all the work when the battery is getting flat. I charge it straight away) The combi drill clutch failed after 18 months or so. I bought another combi drill so I now have 4 compatible batteries and 2 chargers. These can keep me going continuously! There are more powerful 18v units by other manufacturers eg Bosch, Makita ( now they have dropped the plastic gears). Mut this is great value, and will last over 10 years for a DIY'er

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value - Great Product This is a great value kit. It does the job required, is comfortable to use and easy to see on a grey UK day! Would recommend it for value and performance. Well worth the investment. It is easy to control, has good weight distribution, great torque. I bought this kit to replace a combi drill which died. I cant believe I lived without the impact driver for screwing jobs. the drill is also top quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great piece of kit Started off on a mammoth task of refurbishing the entire house and needed some tools. Conscious I didn't want to go overboard with price and read up on these before I finally purchased. Absolutely made up with them, I don't even find the battery life a problem as I can charge one whilst using the other. They might not carry the same street cred as the likes of DeWalt but they are brilliant for my needs and over the last three months took everything I've thrown at them. My one and only issue which prompted me to write this review is the chuck often becomes loose, whether this is isolated to mine or a common design flaw I'm not sure. It can become annoying at times, especially if drilling holes through a floor and the drill bit drops through! If they could sort that issue I would award 5 stars for reliability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1st Impact This is the first battery impact driver I have purchased/used and have to say I am impressed. Plays with jobs I strugled with with just a plain battery screwdriver. Drill is good too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for DIY I bought this set about 6 months ago for various projects around the house. I've only used the drill for small jobs so can't really go into much detail but I have noticed that the chuck seems to open itself up sometimes which makes the drill bit loose, this is easily fixed by tightening back up. I have used the impact driver for laying a couple of floors, a deck, driving 250mm (10") screws into softwood sleepers and removing some 100mm screws that my friends cordless drill was just rounding off the heads. It handled all of these jobs comfortably. The only thing that I feel lets the product down is the battery life (they keep the cost of this set down by supplying 1.5ah batteries). For an average DIYer the smaller capacity batteries should be ok however if I was using the tools everyday I know that I would regret not spending the extra money for longer battery life.
