Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT!! I'm so annoyed with my self for not checking this when I wired in my first one, but all I can do now is make sure others are aware of this issue. Let me first of all say the good points I first started installing these because my daughter is disabled and when she is using her walking aid she doesn't have a hand free to turn on the light switch. They gave her independence to go where she wanted without someone to turn the lights on following her around. They worked so well we installed 9 around the house, and we thought we were being environmentally friendly, BUT .... NOW THE NEGATIVE ... then I put some batteries in our energy monitor (We hadn't been using it for a while) and these PIR sensors use 5-7watts each in standby there are some rooms where we only have one energy saving light bulb where we'd have been better just leaving the light on all night for her. because of the standby current there are very few situations where using one of these will be environmentally friendly. Over a 24hr period they use 120Wh (43.8KWh / Annum), a typical energy saving light bulb might be 7watts you could leave 2 on continuously for 8.5hours and you wouldn't have used as much as the PIR sensor did monitoring if the light needed to be on in the same 24hour period. To make these environmentally friendly you'd have to be leaving 60w's on unnecessarily for 2hours a day. In the age of the energy saving light bulb 60w is a lot of light. Having said all that if I have my figures right its only about £6 (£57 for our house) a year per PIR sensor, but don't kid yourself your being environmentally friendly. A small current 24 hours a day 365 days a year is worse than a big current for a short time each day. SCREWFIX please publish the standby wattage of your PIR Sensors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Manual Override Problem Wanted the manual override for my porch light with minimum wiring changes. The unit turns off manual override at dawn, but when the light was on in manual override the sensor was detecting enough light to think it was dawn :( I had the light sensitivity set on max dust initially, had to raise it. The symptom was the light only staying on for a shorter time in manual override than the automatic time I'd setup. May have been better, if I'd have gone for a double pole switch (intermediate switch) that way the manual overide PIR function would been used - as I can see the Mrs struggling with the mystic double on-off-on switching.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these so much Put 2 of these in an 'L' shaped hallway that is quite dark without any windows to trigger some downlights. We love them so much and visitors always remark how clever it works. Walking into a normal switched room, you wonder why the lights haven't come on! Set mine to just 2 minutes lighting period and work every time. You can hear them click when they are tripped by movement, but you soon get used to it and without any indicator light, at least you can tell they are working should the lights fail to come on. One downside for me, works in normal daylight hours, but you could have a switch to only use them when needed. We don't mind lighting all the time. So easy to wire.
