LAP MAS830B Digital Multimeter 600V is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 156.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but not great First off, don't count on just switching on and using this multimeter. It comes with a battery but the voltage on the battery in mine was so low that it would not even display the digits, and I had to go and buy a new battery. It has a decent number of ranges, including 200 V a.c. for 110 V work and 600 V a.c. for 230 V work. As others have commented, it lacks an audible continuity setting, something I miss. I appreciate that the low ohms setting does the same job but the beep is a quick way of checking continuity. Oddly, it beeps when you touch a live 240 V point! The pointed probes are quite well insulated but it would be nice to have a crocodile clip attachment for the neutral lead so that you could test circuit voltages with one hand. It comes with a moulded cover offering some protection against falls and including a prop stand, which is handy. To remove the battery, you need to unscrew three screws (not two as in the manual). I fear that these will not last for more than two or three battery changes as the heads are pretty soft, but the back could be taped on and the cover will hold it in place. I'm replacing my old multimeter whose removable battery cover has disappeared. It appears accurate based on my brief testing of mains voltage and resistance of 1% metal film resistors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a handy tool i admit i am no "sparky"so can only give an amateur's view, i purchased this meter for a project i am working on, it's only 12 volt dc (not mains) but the meter worked very well and with great ease, there is a small user guide which dosn't give too much info, other than tha a great deal

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for price Purchased one of these over a year ago as working away from home and Fluke in for calibration. Having seen some of the low star ratings given to this I am surprised, as this has proved a worthy stand-by tool, and passing calibration checks A1. As for having no continuity test I feel that total novices are not aware that the low Ohms range suffices, allbeit without a bleep. If you require an instruction set as one suggested you should not be meddling with electrical services anyhow as this meters functions are pretty much self explainitary.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst multimeter ever Bought as my old multimeter off 13 years seized to function. Bought this as cheap until I could order the one I wanted. Used the Lap one multimeter once and it stopped working. Also have a lap clamp meter. Don't waste your money. Buy decent tools and they last longer and are more reliable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Digital Multimeter Brilliant device, great to have in the heating / plumbing industry or just handy for DIY freaks!.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple but effective I needed to do a parasitic draw test on my daughter's car battery and my much more expensive meter wasn't working (turned out fuses had blown). Screwfix was just a mile away and for this price I was prepared to give it a go. Very pleasantly surprised at features and it performed very well indeed giving the information I needed very quickly. This is a very cheap meter so as expected there are no serviceable parts (i.e. internal fuses. The supplied leads are quite short and have tiny tips which may cause access problems. However for straight forward DIY use it does everything you could ask for and for the price it is a no brainer.
