Rated 1 out of 5 by from Voltage Detector Not being an electrician and wanting to confirm whether any current was present on some cables found when dismantling a kitchen I bought this item. I first tried this on kettle cable, TV cable phone charger cable all live and the detector confirmed this, however on checking some cables laid not connected to the consumer unit or the ovens i.e. just lengths of wire the detector keeps telling me they are live with the same result for some new cable laid totally disconnected. Not impressed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Detecting value! Fantastic bit of kit. Neat, compact, reliable and with the inbuilt light is soooooo handy! Great buy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good voltage pen. Great for the price. Like the fact of a built in LED light. To be honest I'm not a massive fan of these as they can be unreliable but the convenience factor is substantial when it comes to finding singles that are live within trunking, just make sure you always check it on a known live supply before you use it or you could end up it with a belt. For the DIY enthusiast out there do not solely rely on these. THIS IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR A PROPER GS38 VOLTAGE INDICATOR.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Safety first! Brought this when changing over to USB sockets. Always worth checking the power even if you have tripped the rcd off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Totally Unreliable It detects live circuits when there aren't any. Better than the other way round I suppose. Lost confidence in it and will be returning it to my local Screwfix branch. Furthermore access to the batteries is extremely difficult. Generally very poor quality. "

Rated 5 out of 5 by from essential for diyer Used to check wiring before changing electric shower. Only 3 stars for reliability as only used for the shower, but am sure will use much more. Easy to use. Light and sound detection a plus. Previously used tester screwdriver but this is much better. Would definitely recommend as a must have in your tool box.
