Makita DA3010 240V 450W Angled Drill Driver is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Superb quality, very compact. Very compact, I compared a few right angle drills before buying this one and the gearbox height of this drill was the lowest of them all allowing you to get it into some very tight spaces. There is a good reason this drill is expensive - quality. It is actually made in Japan - not something you often see on power tools these days. To improve the versatility even further, use it with some stubby drills. Had to drill some very hard to reach holes in a steel beam and it was a breeze.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but be careful I purchased this to first fix pipe work from below the ceiling level and my combi drill just would not cut through the joists without getting hot and running down the batteries. I bought this and combined with a new set of flat wood bits it worked flawlessly. I even tried out a 32mm bit and it had no trouble but it does say that 25mm is the limit. The chuck is only 10mm and the supplied chuck key has to be used and like other reviewers, here is the word of caution, unplug the thing before using the chuck key, I am always careful and all day I was careful with this thing but then I got a bit annoyed and rushed to change the drill bit and caught the trigger with my hand only to trap my finger between the chuck and the body causing me to crush the end of my finger, split the nail and have my blood dripping on the floor with a few choice swear words coming out of my mouth! It's a great drill but care must be taken.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased I was going to hire an angle drill, as it's not something I use all the time. But I decided to splash out with a view to using it for the project and selling it on in a few months instead of wasting dosh on hire charges. I looked at a few, and someone had already told me that the battery ones didn't really cut it, so I looked at mains ones and this seemed good value. At first I was disappointed there was no plastic case, just a cardboard box for my £189 but to be honest the tool feels like it's worth all the money. I've found a box from a cheap old drill that's no good, so I'll use that. I'm so impressed by the no nonsense quality and features that I might just keep it forever. It's small and light, dainty in fact, and the speed is variable and controllable enough you can use it as a precise driver. I was using it to cut 25mm holes which is supposedly it's maximum, but it did it well and in very old timbers too. One word of caution - always unplug when changing bits - seems an obvious one but sometimes people forget. On this machine it's quite easy to accidentally press the rather large on button whilst undoing the chuck...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Quality Drill! Generally a very well engineered product and a joy to use! The motor is very quiet and has no vibration at all, even at the highest speed setting. It's very powerful for the small size when used at top speed. I have used mine for drilling through many 3" oak joists with a 10mm bit and it works like a dream! The drill can also operate at ridiculously low speeds if desired, but there is not enough torque for this to be useful for drilling or screwing! Be careful when pushing hard on the drill - when the bit breaks through a joist, it's very easy to bash your fingers due to the front location of the switch!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid and Useful Drill This drill feels solid and powerful in the hand, smooth running motor and plenty of power. Useful for all drilling (and screwing if used slowly) in tight spaces such as through joists and for screwing down bath feet etc. Big shame this drill does not come with a case - seems a bit tight for a £170 Makita drill when most £99 tools come with a case these days. The chuck is 10mm so if you were thinking of using larger holesaws it will be quite difficult unless you get an adapter for a larger chuck and risk over-stressing the motor. All in all pleased.
