McAlpine Basin Bottle Trap White 32mm is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product Tried refitting the original cheap trap after clearing it of gunge and it would not seal. Bought this quality item rather than mess about trying to must swap the rubber washer and it sealed first time. Would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality trap It's worth spending a little more to buy a decent quality trap. Can't fault it as with most McAlpine kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Designed Bottle Trap Emptying an old McAlpine bottle trap I found the internal seal would no longer sit on its little ledge, but as you cannot see it once assembled, you don't know it is going to leak like a sieve until you turn the water on! I actively chose this design because the bottle seal is externally visible, so you can see the condition of the seal and if it is correctly seated. A pleasure to fit even in a really tight space and has a good flow even though it is a compact design. I decided to trim a tiny bit of flash from the mating surface of the bottle bottom, to ensure repeated disassemblies wouldn't score the seal, just for reliability. I will never go back to an internal-seal design, because as soon as the seal has aged a little it will never reseal reliably, but you only find this out the hard way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't buy the cheapo traps! I originally bought a Floplast bottle trap (14737) and no matter what I did it leaked (look at reviews). Took it back and bought this superior product which fitted like a dream. That'll learn me!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish I bought this on the basis of the reviews, how I wish I hadn't. I've fitted my bath, shower mixer and the basin tap with hardly any issues. I come to what should be the simplest job and it was a nightmare. I didn't like the look of the seals on the bottle trap, I thought they looked too small and flimsy, unfortunately I was to be proven correct. It leaked like a sieve, so took it off and used a roll of ptfe on every thread, it still leaked like a sieve. I tried over tightening but that just slowed the flow. this should have been a ten minute job and it's cost me time as I now have to get a replacement.
