McAlpine Mechanical Pipe Boss Connector Black 40mm is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome adapter Once cast iron pipe was drilled you just pop it in tighten it up and jobs a good'n. Would definitely use again!! Has saved removing a cast iron soil stack which let's be honest is not much fun. Can't recommend highly enough.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good not Great 57mm hole saw through the pipe and tightened up the boss, I was putting a u bend, dishwasher Waste and sink waste directly into the boss and it seemed a bit flimsy, took it out applied silicon to all the mating faces and around the rubber seal put it back in and tightened again, wrapped a large cable tie around the top and bottom and tightened - boss doesn't move now and no leaks at all.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pipe Boss Review The Pipe Boss is well manufactured, but the installation instructions are appalling:- the picture of the fitting tool was so badly drawn that I thought it was missing from the pack (and I'm an engineer and familiar with looking at technical drawings). The last person to purchase it also couldn't figure out how to install it, so had returned it to store after opening the bag. The tool is plastic and has lugs ('ears') on it. Once you understand this, installation is easy. There is no online video regarding installation. The fitting itself is smart, neat and well engineered.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pipe boss (mechanical) This is a very good product, however the instructions could be clearer, the fixing tool should be removed from the assembly in the first instance,I thought it was part of the workings and failed to recognise the part for what it was, also the the drawings 2+3 on the instructions have omitted the lugs on the tool, had they been drawn on the part would have been easier to identify, excellent product when I realised how it worked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product Fantastic product. Took literally 2 mins to fit. 57mm hole saw used to cut a hole in the pipe. Slotted the fitting in and tightened up with included splined tool. Done. Solid and of course leak free. Having read other reviews about needing a smaller 56mm cutter I don't agree. The 57mm cutter, cut properly, made for a very solid connection. You would be crazy to use a solvent connection over this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from clever bit of kit The 'mechanical' bit threw me ? so read the other reviews and thought it sounded pretty good. After taking on board the issues with either 56 or 57mm hole? decided to go with the 56mm. Bossed it into a cast iron stack using a Starrett bi metal hole saw which breezed the cutting , a bit of filing and got a nice push tight seal to the stack. A couple of turns with the seal key supplied to lock it in and job done ' Easy'. Looks neat and no silicone required. 4 stars for reliability as only just fitted it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fitting Got me out of a tight corner- literally! Couldn't easily get all the way round the soil stack so this saved me a lot of time and hassle.
