Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good I put 3 of these in a rental property 3 and half years ago. Now I am living in that same house and can confirm they are all still working. They turn on fully, they turn off fully, and they appear to respond to changes in temperature. More generally, I would comment that the indicative temperatures given in the instructions seem to be quite far out consistently across a number of valves, and so I have had radiators coming on at over 10° C when the frost (8°C) setting was selected. In practice my bedrooms have to be set at 'frost and a half' to get the 16°C I want, which is a bit annoying. Obviously, they have the standard slow response that wax sensor TRVs all have: as the room warms, they tend to reduce the radiator heat output progressively with the result that if the heating is running all day, the room temperature achieved will be higher than if the heating is only running for a short period. But that is not so much a problem if the system is properly sized in the first place. The other thing I have noticed #in other, sunnier houses# is that the colour band behind the setting number tends to fade easily. But I can now say they are reliable - for at least 3 and half years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Product Selected because of good reviews. Do not want to have to replace! Working well so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid; heads usually snap. Plastic heads usually drop to bits on these. Drayton seem not to have the same problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth The Extra Cost I bought this product as the head had stopped working on my old valve. I've tried the cheaper type but this type is way better quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from looks good - but fails I've had the missfortune to fit two of these TRV's and have had 4 failures! They look well made and good quality - packaging makes it look like its come from Poundland. Ive previously used another brand - never had a problem with them, and a pair i fitted are still working perfectly after over 30 years. The Peglar have a habit of failing about the 5 year mark. Im actually not even sure whether they are that effective as they seem either permenantly off or on, depending on the setting. Ive had two heads fail, one leaking valve resulting in a stained carpet and one very stuck valve - the latter i suspect because the head failed and stuck open. Changing heds is easy, but valves are another thing - either half days work, loss of inhibitor and possibly an expensive job. Theyve always sent me spares, but its just not worth the hassle. When i drain down, im replacing these with my brand leader - they come with a chrome top.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from limited life These are very good valves. I've never had to replace the actual valve, but the thermostatic actuator is prone to failing after some years. A piece of black plastic inside it deteriorates and cracks apart. Unfortunately they don't seem to supply this separately, so you have to buy the whole thing. I have a box full of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pegler Terrier ii TRV Astonishing value especially compared to competitors. Solid build and reliability. These take a real hammering in our accommodation block.
