Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pegler Terrier Lockshield Solid drain off valve. Allows you to drain radiator without draining system. More expensive than other lockshield valves but worth it for quality and flexibility it offers.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from good idea, but............. I have fitted many of the peglar lock shield valves without the drain off and cannot recommend them enough. However the ones with drain off, I have now had problems with these on 3 separate occasions. My main issue is they do not fully fit in the radiator. I have tried these with 2 different make radiators and the valves from different suppliers but always the same outcome. Tightened fully into the radiator there are still 3-4 turns of thread visible and does not leave a professional looking finish. I have tried with no PTFE tape on the thread but makes no difference and you end up rounding off the nut.!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not cheap but good design Not a cheap valve but the design allows you to bleed the radiator alone which can be very useful when doing work or filling up with chemicals in future. I wish all valves had this design in future. Would recommend you free up the bleed valve first before installation as they can be very stiff.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but! Bought these as replacements where I had removed existing rads for decorating, slightly pricey. Ok so the originals had been in for 16yrs, the drain off screw plug was seized up, when I eventually freed it and drained off. I then refitted and refilled it, and started leaking out of the top of the drain off. Hence buying the replacements. This may be a common issue, but the actual idea is good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pegler Lockshield Valve I have used this product before. It is solidly built compared to cheaper brands.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great idea, Disappointing I thought this was a great idea. I fitted one a couple of years ago. Recently I came to change the radiator, and tried to drain it. I could not make it budge, and have now only succeeded in rounding off the square drive (using a brass radiator key). Eventually I drained the radiator in the time honoured way by loosening the union connector. Even after removing the valve I can't get the drain plug to move, despite 24 hour soak in WD40. There's no sign of corrosion, no lime-scale (this is a soft water area). I'm disappointed.
