Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple and works Does exactly what it is designed to. Cheap and works well even over distance

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ok, but ... Device works fine, but the accompanying documentation is wrong, T568A and T568B labels on the wiring diagram are the wrong way round. Nearly chopped off completed rj45 and started again

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice bit of kit As a part time computer fixer for silver surfers, this was a great help when checking leads, could have done with battery supplied, but that's me being hopeful. Had to give 3 star to be able to post review, as only just got reliability unknown...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential tool Bought this as I work on printers all day, sometimes the problems are down to the Cat 5 Cables, this unit can prove that the cable is good or bad. I've also made up 2 little fly leads and use this tool to check network points from the wall back to the switch or router. Great bit of kit for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential bit of kit I had hardwired our house a few years ago but as wireless became the norm stopped using the wired system. Using this tool I reinstated the wired system and broadband speeds increased dramatically. In addition, it is easy to check patch leads for correct connectivity. Very useful tool.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Basic but works It's a pretty basic tester but will let you know if you've wired up both ends correctly. You plug one piece of the device into each end and then watch the lights turn on in sequence. Only one end needs a 9V battery. It will go 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 fairly quickly and then start again from 1 unless you turn it to the S mark and then it's a bit slower. Both devices will show the same light at the same time, if you've wired it correctly. If there isn't a connection you will get some missing numbers. If you've cross-wired it the smaller device will show the numbers out of order, so you do have to check both devices, you can't just rely on the master unit. It doesn't check signal strength or quality etc.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product I was a bit dubious how good it would be for the price but I need not have worried. Performs just as good as an expensive one at a fraction of the cost. Thoroughly recommend. Remember to pick up a 9v battery as its not included with the product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Work, but only just Functionally the tester does what it says and polls each line but the design is very poor at best. The switch on the PCB works ok but they have extended the lever up to the case and because of the distance away from the actual switch it doesn't work so I have removed the case and use it as a base PCB. I would look for something more sturdy next time.
