52566 Recessed Downlight Insulation Guard 125mm 3 Pack is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor product, not recommended Bought to fit with spots to prevent loft insulation from overcovering. Terrible product. Almost impossible to fit into plasterboard such that they remain in situ. Spent a significant amount of time bending and fitting them to no avail. Recommend buying spots that have an integrated insulation guard instead.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could Be Better They are a bit fiddly but they do the job for those hard to access areas, as their is nothing else out there that I have seen they'll have to do.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from These do work I thought I had better defend these as they only have one poor review. Yes these are a pain to install and there are no instructions but they do work. These are designed to dig into the plaster of the hole (so that they are hidden from view) rather than clip over the plasterboard. How I fitted them is as follows. 1. Bend the long sides such that they are just wider than the hole you have drilled for the downlighter. 2. Bend the 4 clips that rest on the top side of the plasterboard and the tangs that dig into the plasterboard such that they are parallel with the ceiling. You may need to also put a twist in them such that they will lie as flush as possible with the hole sides once fitted. 3. Insert into hole so that the top clip rests on the top of the plasterboard and use pliers or similar to push the tangs into the plasterboard. 4. Fit light into hole. The guard should stay in place when you are fitting the light provided you bent the sides so that they are pushing outwards (as per step 1). Hope this helps and be prepared to swear a lot with the first one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No good for UK These are a good idea but they will not work properly with standard size plaster board, they would work if the ceiling material was about 5mm, these make the hole too small for the downlight to go through, I lost one in the ceiling void and the one I finally managed to fit made the light sit proud of the ceiling. Because I lost one in th ceiling I cannot return them, please take note ScrewFix this product is not fit for purpose and should not be sold to go into a plaster board ceiling.
