Thumbturn Lock Polished Chrome 40mm is rated 3.6538461538461537 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs work Found it to stiff to turn. Removed back plate took off one of the springs and flattened it about half way. Turns alot easier now.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Chrome....well half of it is. The main body of the lock is chrome plated. However the very visible locking bar is not. It's yellow zinc passivated or some such and looks very poor. The overall feel and finish is commensurate with the price tag. ei: cheap and cheerful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Modified to improve further The item has a quality chrome coating, inexpensive and is much better than a standard door bolt. The only issue is that the latch, when in the unlocked position, retracts and protrudes significantly. Modified by disassembling the lock and cutting the latch along one of the groove marks. This limits the latch throw but is easily restricted by using a screw as a bumpstop behind the keep/striking plate. With this modification the lock is aesthetically more pleasing when in the unlocked position as the latch can no longer be seen.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cheap but also a bit nasty Bought this for a bathroom door - it does the job very well, was easy to fit, seems strong, and was a very good price. However the finish on the bar that slides across is just bare metal and looks very cheap, not the sort of finish you'd want if your bathroom is posh!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks good Nice finish, but watch the screw heads! Pre-drill some pilot holes to get best results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very good simple door lock Recently fitted this to customers internal door. Very pleased with both the look and performance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not up to the usual standard The outside looks ok but the working bits are poorly finished, which makes for a really nasty action. I tried smoothing the burrs with a fine file and lubricating but it wasn't much better In one direction the "bolt" slides too far such that it jams inside the case and can't be moved back. This will be going back for a refund. Hopefully, the reduced price is an indication that Screwfix won't be doing this item any more.
