Rated 5 out of 5 by from tubular latch surprised at the low price, fitted old holes well and works well

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can be pushed open I fitted one of these to a new door and discovered that a firm push opened the door without turning the handle. The bolt is a loose fit in its case and if the gap between the striker plate and door is 2mm or more the bolt twists and retracts under moderate pressure, e.g. a dog or child leaning on it. It works best surface mounted without rebating in the faceplates. With a 3 or 4mm gap it is unreliable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from generally OK This was a replacement for a not very old, but very worn, catch for a bathroom door. As others have experienced, had to open out the corners of the hole in the door as the barrel of the original was more rounded. The square hole for the handle shaft was just too small at the edges at one end, needing slight easing with a file. Perfect alignment with the handles and the existing striker plate. I re-used the original screws, so no views on their quality. As there was no obvious sign of any lubricant, I applied some bearing grease to the mechanism before fitting. Can't complain at the price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok but not great Cheap latch but on close inspection you can see why. Would advise spending a couple of pence more to get a latch that really finishes the door off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tubular Latch Not fit for purpose. Steer clear. Mechanism is sticky and the actual latch block is so small and triangular it can't even reach the receiver plate when the door is closed. I'm glad I only bought one to test. Ended up buying 13 of the Smithe and locke (4065K) ones. 10 times better quality.
