TurboUltra Woodscrews Double Self Countersunk 4.5 x 50mm 200 Pack is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 136.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Poor Never have I felt the need to review a screw before, you get it I'm sure; it has a thread, check; it has a head, check; introduce screw and driver in a brief but intimate relationship and hey presto two become one. Well that's the story for the thousands of screws that I've had over the years, but when it came to the latest round of fixing some Exterior Softwood Tongue and Groove to some Exterior Stud Work all was not good with my latest purchase of TurboUltra. In total I fixed about 10 planks in place using approximately 50 screws. Most of the screws drove without issue and countersunk themselves nice and flush with the surface however, with 5 of the screws the heads sheared off even before countersinking. Did I pre-drill or pre-countersink no, I was fixing softwood to softwood the screw has a sharp self drilling point and is described as a self countersinking screw this shouldn't have been necessary. The worst thing is that the shank sheared half way through the TnG so there was no easy way of removal. Seriously consider another screw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality screws These screws are great for outside use but need a pilot hole and I find best to use impact driver as the heads can shear easily specially f they hit a knot or used on hardwood

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp Customer In my experience the only screw that doesn't rust in outside locations - ideal for fences, decking etc. The sharp point makes starting them off easy, and usually no countersinking is necessary. Well worth the extra money

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turbo Ultra SS screws For many years now I have been using stainless steel screws from Screwfix for all my timber work projects, both indoors and in the garden, they look good and stay put and do not disfigure the timber with rust stains, because they never corrode. Why everyone does not use them I do not know, because so many products are ruined by the use of mild steel fixings, which go rusty and fail , just for the sake of spending a few pence extra to do the job properly with stainless steel.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish Very disappointed. Bought these screws over others as looked the business, even though they were more expensive. Screws drove in very easily. And first impressions were good. But when I tried to remove screw 50% of them snapped! the heads sheared off clean making the job twice as hard as it should have been. The screws had only been in the timber 10 min!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Corrosion Resistance I've used a couple of thousand of these in outside jobs (not just this size though). I used them to make rabbit enclosures and after two years they show no signs of corrosion (see picture). They drive well into treated wood and i've only had one failure (this size) though I think I hit a particularly tough knot and the head sheared. I've also used them in rawl plugs around a pond for netting and these too have not corroded unlike some standard screws i used. The only downside of these is they are quite expensive. Can't really say much more about a screw, but if you are looking for a screw which will not deteriorate in outside conditions i recommend these A2 screws.
