Vent-Axia VASF100B 4.3W Silent Axial Bathroom Extractor Fan is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good unit I bought and fitted this today , replacing a noisy old manrose unit that eventually failed. It is almost silent on its low speed factory setting but I felt I needed more extraction so opted to move the " jumper" peg onto the higher position which although noticeably noisier, is still quieter than the old fan. I unclipped and removed the back draught shutters as was fitting in the ceiling and I read on the reviews to do this although I'm not sure why except they looked like they may possibly snag in the flimsy plastic ducting I have. All in all a good bit of kit and easy enough for a half competent diy'er to install.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent product but be aware I've just fitted this to replace a very old and noisy fan that appeared soon to fail. Installation was straightforward and, in principle, a simple swap-out for the old one, though you cannot expect mounting holes to align and they didn't! Near silent in operation (I'm using the lower speed setting) and aesthetically a great improvement. All that I wanted and I'm completely satisfied. My reliability rating is based on expectation of Vent-Axia since it will be 10 years before I can answer this. Be aware however (and this did NOT cause me any problems) that the two-speed option is set at installation - you cannot change it at will - and the flow rate relates to the higher speed whilst the noise level relates to the lower speed! Full details are on the Vent-Axia website.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Only lasted a couple of years Fitted 2 fans in our shower room; one had a run on the other did not. After about two and a half years, the one that runs on has given up and I have had to replace it. The other is still OK. The fans are reasonably quiet but not fantastically so. They look alright but I am disappointed that one only lasted a short time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Quite Fan We installed this in an en suite bathroom as we didn't want to wake anyone during the night with our old noisy extractor fan. We chose the timer version initially but because we would need to change the wiring to suit we opted for this one instead as it was a straight forward replacement for our old fan. Works well and very quiet, what a difference it makes to the noise level in the bathroom. Performs well, looks good but don't know how reliable yet as only installed a few days.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Silent For Long! Once fitted this was virtually silent, had to stand on a chair and put my ear to it to know it was actually working. Several months later (without much use) and it's now pretty loud - not quite an aircraft but you know it's there. For the DIY'ers note, this is the B for BASIC model, meaning it go on and off with the light switch - you'll need the T model for TIMER if you want this to run for a few minutes after the light has gone out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Is it running?? Installed this to replace a cheap xpelair fan, which sounded like a Boeing 747 everytime you turned on the bathroom light. This vent-axia is so quiet I have to keep looking through the gap to see if it's actually running and not died. Very quick and simple to install. I can't comment on its extraction rate as haven't tested it with a shower yet, and it's only been in for half a day, hence the 4 stars for performance and reliability. But as it stands, I couldn't be happier, peace while sat on the throne...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well pleased Fitted as part of bathroom upgrade and very pleased with this fan, much quieter than the old fan, almost silent in fact with far better performance and a very neat appearance, as for reliability, too early to say but it's a good brand name and appears well made so hoping it'll outlive me!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The sound of silence I was not sure whether I should pay more than double the cost a basic extractor - I'm so glad I did. It is silent on slow speed and remarkably quiet on full power. Well worth the extra and I reckon the back draught shutter will keep the room a lot warmer.
