Washing Machine Y Piece ¾" is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, cheap, effective! It's a common problem, particularly with old plumbing. Multiple appliances in need of water with limited connection opportunities. I have installed this device after an isolation valve to feed my washing machine and dishwasher. Super simple to install and leak free. Faced with the alternative of altering pipework and the cost of the necessary parts allied to the increased risk of leaks from all the compression joints, the purchase and install of this little item becomes a no brainer!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from male threads undersize Bought this part to reduce plumbing on a new kitchen. On trying to fit, the male threads would not tighten at all and after only 2 turns the threads jumped and disengaged. The threads are almost 1mm undersize and way out of tolerance. I recommend that you do not use this part use a brass fitting instead.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from give this a swerve These *always* leak in the end. I have fitted about four of them and have now given up and fitted the slightly more expensive metal t piece valve (screwfix part 24030). The last one I fitted was a disaster --- lasted about a day before it was knackered. I never learn,

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great for a quick solution Although plumbing in of another mains water feed remains the better solution, this is a super-quick and easy way of allowing another kitchen appliance (e.g. a dishwasher as well as a washing machine) to be connected - literally takes 2 minutes to fit everything. I would recommend some PTFE tape on threads (even though the female side comes with a washer to seal onto your existing fitting).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality and design Although at first glance this might look like a simple solution to split the cold feed for a washing machine and dishwasher, I cannot recommend it at all. Please avoid this plastic part at all costs. Get a proper Brass Tee instead (24030). The first issue I encountered with the plastic part was that female joint wouldn't seal because it has a plastic tube at the centre of the washer which stood proud of the washer by a few mm, and the plastic hit the face of the valve outlet before the washer did, so it prevented the valve sealing against the washer. So I ground down the plastic to below the level of the washer and managed to get it to seal properly. The next issue was that the washing machine inlet hose wouldn't tighten more than 2 or 3 turns on the male thread before simply popping off the thread. The threads barely seemed to engage. Of course, the same hose fits perfectly reliably on a metal thread. I measured the OD of the plastic thread and it's about 0.5mm smaller OD compared to the metal valve thread. The face of the male threaded outlet ports is also far from flat, with two big ridges due to the seams in the moulding, so it's not a good surface to seal against. Although the dishwasher inlet hose mated better than the washing machine, there was still a very slow weep from that joint. At this point I gave it up as a bad job and went and bought a proper brass compression fitting instead (equivalent of 24030), which took all of 5 minutes to install and worked perfectly first time. Which is obviously what I should have done in the first place!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Y shaped slipter Does as is designed to do, the plastic design should not be used for high pressure water as thread will not take the power in my humble opinion.
