Xpelair CT4S 12W Simply Silent Contour Bathroom Extractor Fan with Timer is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failed! This united lasted 3 days before it gave up. Builder checked power supply and it was fine. As I purchased it just over 30 days previously, I am now trying to get a replacement from the manufacturer. I am very dissapointed as I chose this over a better featured Manrose, due to the brand name. Avoid Xpelair; I've seen another one failed here on reviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Certainly quiet! This is the second one I've bought as the first was so good. I had a standard extractor fitted in a toilet and an ensuite. The noise went through the whole extension. You can hear it in the room but it is quiet; barely hear it in the other rooms now. Avoided the humidistat version though due to the reviews on performance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good I brought one of these to replace an ageing fan that was particularly noisy. The square cover plate is easy to remove and it looks very smart. On the default, slower setting it is incredibly quiet. It is unsurprisingly noisier on the high speed setting, but still quieter than the fan it replaced. There are a couple of points to note with this fan which you should be aware of. Firstly if you need to adjust the timer or speed setting you need to remove the square cover plate which simply twists off. You must then remove the circular cover. This is not easy to do at all, You need to wedge a screwdriver into a dedicated tab on the side of the cover, but it seems you have to use quite a bit of force and be careful while doing this. Secondly, the fan has backdraught doors on the rear which close when the unit is not running. However, one of the ceilings I installed this into did not have much clearance so the flexible pipe did a 90 degree turn immediately after the fan. This was enough to prevent the doors from opening when the fan started running, and subsequently increased the noise level quite substantially. In the end I had to remove the doors, which is very easy to do. But worth checking this before putting all the covers back in place, or if you find the fan is noisier than expected. Overall very pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Quiet So quiet on normal speed i actually started fault finding assuming it had no power. Even at full speed barley noticeable

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quiet and stylish, but.... A bit expensive. Wouldn't fit inside the existing outlet pipe so had to improvise. With replacing a square plate with this round one, there was a need to drill three new holes. So a bit of tidy up is required. Just three wires needed to connect. Adjustable timer and two speed settings. Easy twist-off fascia for cleaning. Overall, silent, stylish with no vent holes showing any dust.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It didn't work Having spent the afternoon installing it, it didn't work, deep joy

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Competent Unit... Competent & attractive unit, it is indeed virtually silent A few of observations: - Sticks out 50mm from wall ceiling which is more than most. - Back plate which carries backdraft shutters is prone to popping off. Suggest a little glue to prevent this. Overall 3 star rating entirely due to this. - This is the timer version which requires 3 wires (permanent live, switched live & neutral). If you only have two wires (switched live & neutral) this unit will work OK if you link switched live and permanent live terminals. In which case it will come on and go off with light. (ie no over run) - Suggest considering the round version (C4TR) in which case getting it square for cosmetic reasons ceases to be an issue.
