ASD Black BC PIR Coach Lantern Wall Light is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 60.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clever design A rare design in that this can use a 4 core cable (permanent and switchable live for a switchable manual override) although it will also work if you only have a standard 3 core cable (only the 'pulse' manual override will be available then). I like the separate back plate which makes it so easy to fit when working off a ladder. It is plastic so won't rust and this makes it very light, although it does feel a bit flimsy compared to metal lamps. There is a small air gap under the 'hood', presumably for cooling as it is designed for a 100w bulb (although these days with LED bulbs this is probably redundant) but I have not had any problems with rain ingress even on windy days. There is no adjustment on the PIR but that does safe a lot of faffing and the standard settings are fine for me. Also rare to see something stamped with 'made in England'!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lanterns Really nice lanterns, easy to install. I did have to replace one as just after a year it stopped working, but overall I was pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks good Electrician recommended a polycarbonate light as they weather well. Lamp not installed yet but looks good, reasonable price too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value Lamp We have recently moved into a new property on a development where each house has a lantern fitted by the front door. As the development is ongoing none of the street lights are yet working. We used to return from an evening out to find that we forgot to turn the outside light on, meaning that we had to fumble around in the dark to find the key hole. We saw this ASD BLACK BC PIR COACH LANTERN WALL LIGHT at Screwfix and immediately bought it. On removing the existing one we found that the connections were quite similar. With just a couple of wires to move into new positions the front simply pushed into place and secured with two grub screws. We went through the test / set-up which was easy to do then simply left it to do its thing. Now when we go out we don't have to remember to switch the outside light on as it's always ready to jump into action. In addition to this the lantern now adds an element of security as it illuminates if anyone approaches the door. In conclusion: This is a great value lamp, very easy to fit and adds peace of mind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's Plastic after all! May be because I'm a little old school but I'm not used to looking at these lights and expecting them to be made of anything but a cast alloy. I should have paid more attention the reading the description and possibly paid the £1 more to get the alloy version. However this is an easy to fit light that only takes a few minutes and is a perfect replacement. The connections are so simple to follow and the actual quality of the light is pretty good. Just be aware it is plastic, so be careful not to over tighten your screws and choose the location for the light carefully! The good news is it won't blister and shed it's paint in a couple of years, like the alloy version and will look good for longer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easyfit Of plastic construction it is easy to work with and straight forward to fit. I particularly like the separate back plate which makes it easier to handle when fitting without having to hold the main lantern at the same time. The lantern then just plugs into the back plate. I have fitted two without the PIR and one with. Used 9 watt LEDs ( screwfix pack of 5) and they give an excellent light. Only just fitted them so can,t comment on longevity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good sensor light Fitted a PIR and non PIR version of this light for a customer a couple of months back and found it very easy to install as there wasn't any need to adjust the sensor, it just works once it's switched on and goes through it's own setting up period. I put a Bell LED lamp (supplied from a local wholesaler) in both fittings as I find that some CFL don't work well with PIRs and the current energy saving halogen lamps tend to give off multiple shadows from the 6 upright sections of the frame where as the LED lamps don't have that same problem. It's easy to make the PIR version work itself and an additional non PIR version just by running a 3C&E cable between them. It's also possible to have one PIR version run more than one additional non PIR version as long as the total load doesn't exceed the maximum wattage the PIR can handle. Before adding the second light I got the first light to work on the original supply which was just a live, neutral and earth supply, so I'm not sure where a certain person did their electrical training as the PIR version of this fitting works perfectly with only 3 wires. The 4th wire is only required if you want to fit an override switch.
