Eclipse Concealed Door Closer Chrome-Plated is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Straightforward to fit This closer was easy to fit although I found I needed a bigger drill than the 22mm suggested. My fire door is quite heavy so I had to adjust the tension 4 times before it would close the door - but, unlike some reviewers, I found the screws supplied fine. Amazing value !

Rated 3 out of 5 by from poor quality pros: well packed, nice shiny plates, solid in touch, price cons: weak screws, chain locking plate v.soft, when installed making crunchy noise, weak spring I bought 15 of those and used 10- 2 of them work well, others makes a noise, doesn't close the door as they should, with the last one ended up replacing with other well known brand. going for those closers in theory was cheaper but in practice ended up loosing more than buying something better in first place (time for adjustment, time for finding new one plus cost of new closer) door closers meant to be made for purpose- fire door closing those ones made to close honeycomb door type

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more draft from the outside I was fed up that the door to the utility room kept being left open and a draft from the backdoor. I used a 22 mm drill which worked just fine. Then recessed for the cylinder plate reduced the tension on the spring before fitting the cylinder. Fitted the screws. Next marked out the anchor plate and made a small recess for the plate with a chisel. Used a roughneck crowbar to pull out the spring about 40 mm and inserted a 2" nail to keep the spring out. Just a matter of fitting the anchor plate. I found the tension was just right for this internal door but can be adjusted later if required

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to fit Great value BUTthe instructions wrongly said make the door hole 26mm - actually 22mm is the barrel diameter. Make sure your hole for the barrel is not too tight. On one install I loosened the frame plate too much and the chain became unscrewed. I needed to remove the whole barrel from door to rectify.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Guidance on Fitting The instructions give no real guidance on how to fit and many suggestions have an element of risk or may damage the door. The technique I developed is fairly safe. You use a piece of wood something like 36x89x200mm. It is not that critical. Drill a 22mm hole at one end and fit the door closer into the hole. Screw with 4 suitable size screws. Slacken off the tension leaving about three threads. Clamp the timber to a work bench. You can then safely use a claw hammer to withdraw the chain about 35 to 40mm and then fit the clip. Re-tension the door closer to show about the same amount of thread as it was when shipped. You can then easily fit the door closer to the door

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Drill size issue Bought as thought it needed 22mm hole but is 26mm dia and my door is a narrow one. Not good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Watch your fingers Best tip read the reviews of others who tell you how to fit these , once you get the hang of it you can rattle them in quick style. Buy a extension for your speed bit rather than an a longer 26mm bit as you can then use it with all your bits Loosen the spring on the closer before you start without winding the threaded rod completely out of the retaining clip at the back . Drill out the door to the required depth and make your recess . Slide the closer in and temporarily screw through both plates gently close the door this gives you an exact mark to place the fixing plate on the frame with no play.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Don't use the screws provided The heads of the screws provided round off with the least provacation, use your own screws. Apart from that, the actual door closer works fine.
