Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple & Effective Simple to construct and place in the loft. However, the guards are quite tall and rose above my joists, which meant that I could not put the loft boards back properly. I solved this by snipping part of the guard off, so there was a little bit of hassle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Halolite Insulation Guard These are ideal. Simple to assemble and fit. Perfect for the role they are intended for.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Value for Money Does what it says on the tin Is too high for small loft joists which are boarded for storage, so had to use tin snips to trim down which was fiddly - would have been good if came in different heights or had pre-cut slots so easier to adjust height.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick and Easy These guards come flat-packed which at first may seem odd for a metal item, but in reality is quite sensible as it very significantly reduces volume. 'Assembling' takes a matter of 30 or 40 seconds, and is a simple and intuitive hand-bending process. The units are made of a decent gauge galvaised steel, and snap together positively and rigidly when formed. Gloves are recommended by the manufacturer ('elf 'n' safety and all that), but I found them unecessary and assembled a number very quickly and easily without any damage to my fingers. In use there's not much to say, just drop them over the fittings to maintain an unobstructed airspace. That said, I personally still wouldn't recommend covering them with insulation unless you're running cold (eg. LED) lights. The catalogue size (220mm or 340mm) refers to the length of each side (they're square). The height is not given but they stand around five inches tall. Two opposite sides have a cable exit gap at the bottom, whereas the remaining sides each sport three large ventialtion holes. They're relatively cheap to purchase, easy to transport, assemble and use, more rigid than the (more expensive) 'fire hood' covers, and do what they're intended to.
