Rated 2 out of 5 by from Blade broke on first use I bought this hacksaw to cut an Ikea kitchen unit hanging bar but the blade pin broke before I finished the job. It’s no good having a good frame if the blade is substandard. I took it back.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cannot cut accurately I bought this saw to cut metal & laminate sheets and was impressed by its heft & sturdiness. Unfortunately, I found it impossible to make straight cuts with the saw. I draw straight lines on the sheet (aluminium or copperclad fibreglass - pcb - sheets) and then use the saw to cut along the lines. Either because the saw is heavy and needs a strong grip to hold it steady, or because the locking points (where the blade and saw frame interlock) are hard to see while sawing, and have too little clearance to rotate the saw frame from side to side while sawing (in order to correct a deviation from the line), or a combination of these factors, cutting true to the line is extremely difficult. After wasting a few sheets due to inaccurate cuts I returned the saw and got a refund. Incidentally, I have found it hard to find junior hacksaws which can accurately follow a straight line inscribed on sheets. Irwin is by no means alone in its inaccuracy.
