Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not suitable for plastic pipes I bought this item expressly for cutting plastic waste pipes. I have 3 or 4 small diameter pipe cutters already. I'm a great fan of Irwin tools in general but this doesn't do as is advertised. It failed miserably on 40mm plastic pipe and I suspect it is much the same on 32mm. There is little doubt it will perform well on metal pipes, copper particularly. Even used gently on plastic pipe I was unable to persuade it to cut into the plastic it did however make an even groove around the pipe that aided cutting the pipe with a saw. When tightened up the cutting wheel does not cut the pipe and eventually the pipe collapses and pops out of the cutter. There are cheaper just as good pipe cutters available for smaller sized metal pipes.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard work Perhaps I have a duff one but 40 turns to cut a 32 mm pipe seems excessive to me. After about 150 turns on a 40mm flush pipe, I gave up and used the score line as a guide for the saw. The plastic adjustment know is poorly finished with rough edges. Call me a softy, but I don't think that is good enough. It does, eventually, produce a nice clean buit, as someone else has said, the minimum cut is about 25 mm.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looked a good tool I bought this item as I don’t cut PCV pipe on a regular basis and I wanted the facility to cut a verity of sizes and the reviews were very good. The tool wa tested on some white 20mm and white 32mm with good results. However when I attempted to cut some 40mm back pipe it failed miserably even after several attempts. I varied the pressure but increasing the pressure just crushed the pipe. I the only explanation may be the pipe was a little softer then the white pipe that was cut . A little disappointed

Rated 3 out of 5 by from very good for metal pipes I recently purchased this for plastic drain pipes l have smaller ones for smaller copper pipe and found them to be excellent. this model however goes to 45mm which is great for the larger drain pipes. however in practice it's performance is poor the walls on larger plastic pipe are too thin so it deformes even with low pressure resulting in not cutting all the way through or shattering an old pipe. If you insert a metal pipe or tool which is a close fit inside the plastic pipe it works properly but this is all hassel it does seem to work on smaller plastic pipe because they have thicker walls. so altogether a bit disappointing

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality tool An impressively designed and manufactured tool that is the most accurate pipe cutter I have ever used. I would have rated it higher but it does not have a deburring tool included. Not the cheapest available but you definitely get what you pay for. This tool looks like it will outlast me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet efficient little tool Was looking for a tool suitable for a job i had to do but found it hard to find something with the jaw size wide enough and for reasonable money as its one of those tools unless your a plumber that won't get used much. So glad i opted for this, it made the job i had to carry out easy. Not only was the task i had to carry out easy but it makes a real clean job, not least accurate !! Recommended !!
