Irwin Record Woodworking Vice 7" is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good sturdy vice Well made, strong, with a good amount of toe-in. Mounted this behind the bench apron with an oak outer cheek; vice performing very well. Would recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value This vice is extremely well made and built to last a long time. It is heavy and operates smoothly but I have to say it took me an age to fit. I fitted it to my woodwork bench that has an angle iron frame and I had to make a spacer to fit under the bench. It is held in place with two M10 bolts at the front which go all the way through to the top of the bench. Two large screw bolts at the back which should keep things rock solid. Additionally I made two jaws out of oak which I fitted last of all. Surprisingly the holes for the fixed jaw was not countersunk but this was not a problem. Overall this vice should see me out (I`m 67) and give years of service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid and well-built Excellent quality vice as to be expected. Priced very competitively too. On the downside, it's a shame the model with quick release isn't stocked, but can't complain for the price. Ignore the previous review that mentions the gap at the bottom of the jaws having a gap when closed. This is known as 'toe-in' and is how a decent carpenter's vice is designed. When it clamps the workpiece, the jaws will flex slightly, hence the design - it ain't rocket science!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Woodworking Vice Practical size for a small bench in a home workshop and seems to be solid and strong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bench vice. Took a while to fit but great result when done. You have to make your own jaw liner's (would have been nice if some were supplied). Been in use for a few months now and has been totally reliable in use. Preparation for a proper fit of a great product is the key. There are cheaper on the market but are they made as well?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value Vice I made the mistake of buying a cheap vice from a well known on-line auction site……and as the saying goes, "buy cheap, pay twice". I make country sticks/walking sticks, and part of the process is to straighten the shanks, this requires tight clamping of the unbent wood and then applying pressure to bend in the opposite direction - it is this pressure that broke the cheap unit. I purchased this one and was very surprised initially how robust it is, very solid and all moving and working parts are excellent. I particularly liked the fact I could attach a softwood face to the vice to protect the stuff I work o. Very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solid wood working vice i was looking for a second hand record vice for £50. as new ones can cost £100. Till i found this brand new one for £53 from screwfix. Jaws were alot thicker than i thought they would be great bit of kit for the price. Better than second hand
