Roughneck Wood Grenade Log Splitter is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 260.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good Simple but really effective. Managed to split up to 15 inch diameter conifer logs felled earlier this year, so pretty dry if not completely. Photo suggests a convenient 4-way split, which I've not seen yet, but two-way has always been achieved so far. Reliability difficult to assess as I've only had it a few days but I see no reason why it should fail.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Get a (really) heavy hammer Don't think that you will put the splitter in the wood, give it a few hits with a hammer and then lo-and-behold the log splits in two. I went out and purchased (again from ScrewFix) a 4lb club hammer to be able to really whack the splitter - holding and swinging the club hammer with both hands. Even then it takes several swings to get the job done but it does split, eventually. My thought is perhaps a 5lb club hammer would be even more effective but the next one up is a 7lb sledge hammer. Whilst this may seem a bit heavy duty for splitting logs you could then probably split it with a couple of swings, so worth thinking about. I would be interested to know if anyone manages by using anything less than a 4lb because for me this a minimum to get the job done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Excellent bit if kit. Was given some big thick oak rounds and an axe wasn't going to do the job. This was great and wished I'd have bought it long time ago.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fourth time lucky I am somewhat disappointed with this product. This is the 4th wood grenade that I have purchased in 6 years where the tip has broken off. Unfortunately I did not retain my receipts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant Used this to split trunk material from a mature leylandii conifer. Trunk was wet and newly felled but was easily split with the grenade. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Splitter When i unboxed it, it looks like a trophy with it's little plastic stand, splits huge thick pieces of wood semi-easily. There is definitely a technique to using this and there arent any tips but it's a great purchase, when you get the hang of swinging the sledge hammer you'll be off like a shot.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Snapped in about 24 hours Started out great, split the logs well, but trouble came along as soon as I tried to split a bit of wood that had a lot of moisture in it. Head got stuck and a few hits later (straight down) and the tip snapped off. If there is more than one person it is easier to use an axe and hit the axe hard with a sledge hammer. About 50% quicker than a splitter, but it does need two people, one to hold the axe the other to hit.
