Spiral Wrap x 50mm x 7.5m is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Maybe not working as I thought Bought this to replace some old hessian type lagging around my 8mm microbore heating pipes (couldn't get the usual foam stuff for 8mm pipes). It went on ok but when I tested the CH system all the foil got hot so it acted rather like a radiator which in my mind could be counter productive. As a precaution I resurrected the hessian lagging and wrapped everything with that.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work Does not work. This was measured scientifically. Wrapped a pipe with various laggings and measured surface temperatures. Can calculate effectiveness taking into account the new outside diameter at the surface. For example, if bare pipe is 60 degC, ambient temp is 20 degC, then out of two laggings of the same thickness, the one that measures 30deg is better than the one that measures 50deg. (laggings are different thicknesses so you need to calculate the relative heat loss at the new outside diameter, which is only a little more complicated). For "SPIRAL-WRAP", it would measure a small amount less than 60deg, ie completely ineffective. This is because in between the plastic air bubbles, the inside and outside aluminium sheets are connected - they have to be to form the bubbles. And this is a perfect heat conductor: pipe to aluminium to outside. The theory of using a metal sheet together with an insulating sheet is that the metal reflects infra-red heat that penetrates the insulating layer. Old style pipe and radiator wrap had a 4mm layer of solid lag with a single sheet of aluminium. In the test this was even more effective than the cheap thick grey foam pipe lagging commonly available. But this "SPIRAL-WRAP" product DOES NOTHING! It looks pretty but connects heat straight through.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not very Insulating I have an old house with lots of exposed pipes. I thought this would be the answer, however when compared to the older style cloth pipe wrapping to this product the outer temperature was considerable hotter thereby not insulating as well as the old stuff. I'm reverting back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from no more hessian fibre wrap great product easy to use to wrap pipes in difficult places nice pipe lagging wont collect dust easy to wipe shame really is cheaper at trade points as you pay only 5% vat

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Insulation for awkward pipewor Ideal for where the pipes are too close together and the wall, where standard lagging would be difficult to fit. Also good for minibore pipes.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Spiral wrap Cant see the point of this. Too fiddly to use and would be better if self adhereing. I wouldn't recommend this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spiral Wrap Certainly easy to fit, with the careful application of duct-tape. difficult to guage ists effectiveness as it's 'insulating ' and exposed poly pipe water main.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pipe Wrap The wrap is nothing exceptional but it does what it is suppose to do and it works well on pipes.
